The Impossible Statue
A collaboration between master artists who lived 500 years apart made possible by AI and brought to life by Sandvik’s engineering prowess.
This project garnered worldwide attention and sparked millions of conversations about the constructive use of AI in engineering, while stirring up at storm in the art world. Composed using over 40 million lines of G-code and a digital structure that had over 9 million polygons, the Impossible Statue was carved out of over 2 tonnes of solid stainless steel.
The 500-kilogram masterpiece now has a forever home in the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm.
