For decades, Nibe heat pumps have been part of the climate conversation, helping households reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. But as Europe faces growing energy insecurity, the role of heat pumps has taken on new significance. With 54% of the continent’s energy still coming from imported fossil fuels, reducing dependence on oil and gas has become a matter of resilience, security and independence.
How do you make a 40-year-old technology feel like a breakthrough?
By changing the conversation around it. Instead of presenting NIBE heat pumps as an environmental choice, we positioned them as an act of independence. At a time when energy security has become inseparable from national security, we argued that the most important energy metric is no longer price, but sovereignty. The campaign An Act of Independence reframed heat pumps as a tool for energy security, harnessing renewable energy from air, ground and water to reduce Europe's dependence on imported fossil fuels. Launched during London Climate Action Week, the campaign took over London through large-scale outdoor advertising, strategic projections, print placements in The Guardian, a homepage takeover of the Financial Times and digital activations. All built around a clear ambition: removing fossil fuels from heating, for good.
